This knot is the one first knot that I learned to tie when I was a kid after the ordinary
reef knot.The old style spade ended hooks that we used to use required the use of this knot,but now I find it very useful
for tying circle hooks especially as it seems to tip the hook nicely into position when the fish takes the bait.
Firstly just make a loop down the shank of the hook with the line.

Now take the tag end and make a series of turns down the hook shank trying to keep
it all as neat and tight as possible.
