As the normal drop net takes up a bit of room in your tackle bag, this version lets you fold it in half for transportation.

You'll need your bike wheel, two mending plates,4 nuts and bolts, and 4 wing nuts and bolts, your netting and your weight.

Cut your wheel in half using a hacksaw or grinder.Bend your two mending plates to a similar curve to the wheel.

Offer one plate to the wheel and bolt through one of the spoke holes. If you're really lucky the holes in the plate will match the holes in the wheel. If not, tighten up one bolt and then drill through the other hole to the correct size.Do the same to the other side of the same wheel half with the other mending plate.

Offer up the second half of the wheel to the plates, keeping a small gap of 1/4 inch or so between the wheel half.Bolt through with your other bolts, drilling out again if necessary to align the holes.Use the wing nuts this time to tighten.

Proceed with the netting up as in the plain drop net description.

To transport this net, simply unscrew the wing nuts and fold the net in half.Remember to put the wing nuts back through the plates when the net is in half so as not to lose them.
